Registration is open to all members of one of the Kubernetes orgs or sponsored attendees.

Steering AMA

The Summit will start off with an AMA with members of the Kubernetes Steering Committee. Bring any and all questions about how we’re running the project, ongoing efforts & issues, and whatever you’d like to discuss with Steering.

Unconference

The Contributor Summit will be primarily an Unconference-style event. This means that you should arrive with topics in mind, and we will pitch them and vote on them in the morning, and then hold sessions in the afternoon, after the Steering AMA. This is the format used at many DevOps Days, and helps us accommodate changing needs and unpredictable travel schedules.

Doc Sprint

SIG-Docs will have a full-day Documentation working session during the Summit. If you contribute to the docs – and who doesn’t – or you want to learn to do it better, join them.

CFP

If you would like to submit a formal session, please use the CFP Form. This form will be open through Friday, March 31st, and covers presentation, workshop, and collaboration style sessions.
Unconference sessions should use the GitHub issue referenced above.

RAI Amsterdam

Registration and badge pick-up will be available at the RAI Amsterdam. You MUST pick up your badge before attending the summit or evening social event.

The summit itself will be in the RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre. Masks are recommended, but not required for event attendees. Some masks will be available.

Join us at Strandzuid from 6pm to 9pm for an evening celebration after the Contributor Summit on April 18th!

There will be food, fresh air, puzzles, and more!

The contributor social is not a public event. You must be registered in advance to attend the Contributor Summit in order to attend the Social, and must be a Kubernetes contributor. Community members who are not registered and show up at the Social will be turned away.

Bringing A Guest

Contributors will be able to bring a single family member or partner to the Social. This does not include coworkers or casual friends; our intention is to support domestic partners and close family of contributors by including them.

When is the summit taking place?

April 18th, the first day of KubeCon Europe.

Where is the summit located?

The in-person location at the RAI Amsterdam, See the Location & Venue section for more information.

Will I be able to attend remotely?

No, based on our experience with Kubecon NA 2021, we do not expect to be able to support remote access for this event.

What are the Health and Safety protocols?

As a co-located event, the summit is required to adhere to KubeCon’s Health & Safety Guidelines. There may be additional restrictions that develop closer to the event, and we will update the event accordingly to follow venue, municipality and CDC guidelines at a minimum.

Why do I need to be a Kubernetes Org member to attend in-person?

We welcome everyone to start contributing to the project, but with 1600+ Kubernetes Org members and limited space and budget requirements we’ve made the decision to limit attendance to those that are already actively engaged with the project.

What is a sponsored attendee?

If you are a SIG lead or subproject owner and there is someone that is not yet an org member or from another project that might take part in a panel, SIG face-to-face meeting etc, you can sponsor them to attend the summit. Please email us to make arrangements.

I have an idea for a session

Most of the Summit will be unconference-style, so you will have an opportunity to propose a session closer to the Summit itself. If you have an idea for a talk, workshop or panel please post your idea to the unconference issue or the CFP form once they become available.

My SIG wants to meet at the Summit

We do not know yet if we will be able to request additional space outside of the colo event space on Tuesday, April 18th. We will update this page and send out community wide messages about it once the details are available.

Will there be a doc sprint?

Yes, SIG-Docs plans to hold a Doc Sprint at the Summit, which will run for the full day from 11am to 5pm.

Will there be a New Contributor Workshop?

No, they are very time, person and resource intensive. We encourage those interested in becoming a contributor to use the New Contributor Course slated to launch later this year.
