Kubernetes Contributors – Contributor Summit North America 2021

As we are not holding the formal Contributor Summit, we are not running conference registration. SIGs and subprojects who choose to hold a mini-event will be responsible for any kind of signups they need to manage.

We will be holding an evening social event, however, and have an RSVP link for attendees. To attend the social, you must be a member or active contributor of one of the Kubernetes GitHub Orgs (e.g., kubernetes or kubernetes-sigs) or a sponsored attendee. If you are an active contributor but not a member, consider applying for org membership!

NOTE: Any in-person events held by SIGs and subprojects will follow KubeCon’s Health & Safety Guidelines requiring ALL in-person attendees to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.

When is the summit taking place?

October 11th, the Monday before KubeCon North America.

Where is the summit located?

The in-person location at the JW Marriott LA Live, a 5 minute walk away from the LA Convention Center. See the Location & Venue section for more information.

Will I be able to attend remotely?

As we are not holding a formal event, we encourage you to work with your SIG or subproject to engage over Slack or team Zoom rooms. Any SIG or subproject that holds an event will have the ability to connect with any remote attendees.

Why is vaccination required to attend in-person?

As a co-located event, the summit is required to adhere to KubeCon’s Health & Safety Guidelines. There may be additional restrictions that develop closer to the event, and we will update the event accordingly to follow venue, municipality and CDC guidelines at a minimum.

Why do I need to be a Kubernetes Org member to attend in-person?

With uncertain attendance and staffing, we made this decision to ensure we can put on an event to the best of our ability.

If you are not yet a member, but active within the project, please consider joining! The process of joining is straight forward. See our org membership docs for more information.

What is a sponsored attendee?

NOTE: This applied to attending in person only. Anyone may register and attend remotely.

If you are a SIG lead or subproject owner and there is someone that is not yet an org member or from another project that might take part of a panel, SIG face-to-face meeting etc, you can sponsor them to attend the summit. Please reach out to community@kubernetes.io to make arrangements.

Will there be a New Contributor Workshop?

No, with uncertain attendance and staffing, we made this decision to ensure we can put on an event to the best of our ability. For those that are interested in becoming a contributor, SIG ContribEx plans to launch a course later this year.

The North America Summit will take place October 11th, in Los Angeles, California alongside KubeCon at the JW Marriott LA Live in Ballroom 6. There will be signage in the Marriott Lobby to point you in the right direction.
